Finally got my hands on the Presonus HD7 headphones. My first impressions opening the box was like opening a candy box. Full of smiles there until I pulled the headphones out of the box. I absolutely love Presonus because they produce great products but I can lie to my fans about what I truly thing about these headphones. I thought they were a bit on the cheap side in regards to built quality. However, they are lightweight and comfortable wearing them. This is a major plus to guys like me for massive hours mixing and producing records.
I had the chance to really test them listening to music and editing my vocals for this review video below and thought there was some sort of mid dip in the eq frequency range compared to the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. I’m not sure if this would work for professional environment when mixing and mastering. The last thing I need is inaccurate detailing in the mix because the headphones I’m using for reference is not flat and true. But overall, the listening experience was pleasurable.
Keep or toss?
I will keep them and continue working with them. I like the way they look better then the other headphones I owned. Don’t let the looks of something fool you though. For $39 from Amazon, they sound pretty good. I highly recommend these to any beginner producer.
